Village Savings & Loan Associations
Empowering Ugandan mothers through financial inclusion and community-led economic growth.
What is a VSLA?
A Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) is a group of 15-30 people who save together and take small loans from those savings. The activities of the VSLA run in cycles of one year, after which the accumulated savings and the loan profits are distributed back to members.
- Community-Led: Entirely managed by the members themselves.
- Financial Safety: Provides a secure place to save small amounts regularly.
- Access to Credit: Offers low-interest loans for business or emergencies.
